Minutes and committee reports, 1800-1897.

Series consists of bound volumes containig the Minutes and Reports of Committee of the Common Council. The minutes consist of both the handwritten and printed versions. The handwritten version covers the years 1846-1897, with gaps. It includes both the draft copy and the neat transcripts written by the Clerk of the Common Council. The printed version, for the years 1857-1897, contains reports of various departments and a subject index located in the back of each volume. Also included are unbound documents, such as reports to committees, petitions, contracts, letters of correspondence, such as from the Mayor to the Common Council, and expenses of candidates. These items are tri-folded tied in bundles with ribbons and/or rubber bands.
